It all started when…

God gave a vision of a cafe in the small hall. It started simple, ‘lets clear the room, and put some fresh paint on the walls.’ However, that was our plan, and God had other plans.

It quickly became apparent that the task at hand was larger than what we had originally anticiapated. However, God provided every step of the way. From donations in kind of materials, equipment, time and funds, in addition to some amazing grant givers (big thanks to the Gamlingay Turbine Fund, EBA Home Mission and Cambridgeshire Community Chest), we were able to transform the small hall into The Backroom Cafe. We can’t thank everyone enough for their amazing support.

It was a slow process in many ways, as the work was all completed by a small team of volunteers, but we are very proud of the outcome, and excited for the community resource that The Backroom Cafe will be.

As of January 2020 The Backroom Cafe opened it’s doors every Monday. Outside seating is also available for the warmer months. In addition to the free refreshments, there is free wifi for those who’d like to work from the cafe.

Long term, The Backroom Cafe will be used for many other initiatives, including a RENEW Wellbeing cafe, open mic nights, youth drop-ins, repair cafe, cafe church, and many more things.

The space is also available for hire. For more information please get in touch.
