Children

For the first part of the service, the whole church family is together - we sing, we pray and the preacher will normally do a short talk for children (and adults - because we're all children at heart!). Then about half way through the service, the adults stay in church, pray together and look at God's Word, while the children go out to 'JAM' (Jesus and Me), their own Sunday club and have fun finding out about God and His great love for us, doing all sorts of activities.

Children?

What about children?
We do not believe that children are 'the church of tomorrow' - they are part of the church of today and that they need to be welcomed and helped to feel part of things. We don't believe that children should be seen and not heard because God loves everyone without exception and children can experience God and be touched by Him, we are all His creation - the church is for everyone!

We are always delighted to welcome all the family and are working at becoming a church for all the family. For the first part of the service, the whole church family is together - we sing, we pray and James, our minister will normally do a short talk for children (and adults - because we're all children at heart!). Then about half way through the service, the adults stay in church, pray together and look at God's Word, while the children go out to JAM for their own club on Sunday.

JAM
In JAM (Jesus and Me), we have a lot of fun learning about God and His great love, doing all sorts of activities, crafts and games.

We do have DBS checked JAM leaders who have been trained - we take good practice and child protection very seriously and everything we do with children is governed by 'Safe to Grow' - the Baptist Union's child protection policy.

Messy Church
At 2:00pm on the second Saturday of every month, we hold Messy Church'. This is a fun way for families and children to experience the love of God through stories, playing games, doing crafts, eating and getting messy! Contact us for details.

Thanksgiving Services for Babies and Children
Being a Baptist Church we do not baptise babies, simply because they are too young to decide to follow Jesus ('See the What do we believe?' page). But we believe that children are a precious gift from God and they need to be welcomed and their birth celebrated.

We celebrate the coming of children with a special thanksgiving service, if you are interested please contact us for details.
